Ranthambore’s tiger recovery continues to be one of India’s most closely watched conservation stories, part of the broader tiger conservation story playing out across India’s national parks. Recent forest department estimates and 2026 reporting place the wider Ranthambore landscape’s tiger population at more than 75–80 individuals, with continued breeding success — including recent cub sightings from established tigresses — supporting dispersal into neighbouring reserves across Rajasthan.
When the park is open
Ranthambore is open from October to June, closing for the monsoon from July to September when core zone safaris are suspended entirely. Bookings and current-season status are confirmed through Rajasthan’s official tourist booking portal and the Rajasthan Forest Department. Zones and weekly closures
The reserve is divided into multiple numbered safari zones, each with its own weekly closure day on a rotating basis — for example, some zones close on Tuesdays and others on Wednesdays. Zone allocation affects sighting odds significantly, and our guide selects zones based on live availability and recent tiger movement.
Safari timings
Safaris run roughly 3–3.5 hours, with reporting required 30–45 minutes before departure. Morning and evening slot times shift seasonally, tightening in winter and stretching later into the evening through summer.
