A Glimpse into the Wild Heart of Singalila

The Eastern Himalayas hold a profound allure, a realm where mist-shrouded peaks meet ancient forests, harboring some of Earth's most enchanting and elusive creatures. Within these cool, temperate woodlands, an extraordinary adventure awaits: the quest to encounter the Red Panda, a true gem of the wild. Day 1

  • Arrival in the Foothills of the Himalayas – Gateway to the Wild
  • The journey commences with arrival at Bagdogra Airport (IXB). Guests are greeted by a local guide for a scenic transfer by comfortable jeep to the buffer zone of Singalila National Park. This drive itself serves as a gentle introduction to the Himalayan foothills, winding through lush tea gardens and mist-shrouded valleys, setting a tranquil tone for the adventure ahead.
  • In the evening, travelers check into their charming local homestay, where authentic hospitality and a genuine taste of mountain life await. A comprehensive briefing session follows, led by the expert local guide. This session introduces the Red Panda, details the park's unique ecosystem, and outlines the ethical guidelines for the tour, ensuring a respectful and responsible approach to wildlife viewing. The day concludes with a delicious welcome dinner featuring local Nepali and Tibetan-influenced cuisine, fostering a sense of camaraderie within the small group. Dinner & Overnight at Manehanjan.

Day 2

  • Into the Red Panda's Realm – The Thrill of the Search
  • Embracing the crisp mountain air, the second day begins with an early start. After a hearty breakfast, the first guided trek into the heart of Singalila National Park commences. The local guide, with their intimate knowledge of the terrain and Red Panda behavior, leads the way through the temperate forests – the preferred habitat of the Red Panda.
  • The day is dedicated to the thrilling search for the elusive Red Panda. Travelers learn about their arboreal nature and crepuscular habits, understanding that patience and quiet observation are paramount. Fascinating details about their diet, primarily bamboo, and their unique features, such as the false thumb that aids in gripping bamboo, are shared throughout the trek. The guide also provides crucial insights into the challenges facing Red Pandas, including habitat fragmentation and climate change, and the ongoing conservation efforts that the tour supports. Beyond the primary quest, keen eyes may spot other incredible biodiversity, including various bird species and perhaps even a glimpse of a Himalayan black bear. The evening brings a return to the homestay at Manebhanjan for a well- deserved meal and an opportunity for discussion, perhaps sharing local folklore or reflecting on the day's discoveries.

Day 3 - 6

  • Deeper into the Wild & Local Life – Connection and Discovery
  • The next 4 days will be exciting, exploring different sections of the park to maximize the chances of a Red Panda sighting. The guide points out subtle signs of their presence, such as scent markings, and explains their distinct vocalizations. For photography enthusiasts, this day offers ample opportunities to capture the stunning landscapes and wildlife, always with the understanding of maintaining a respectful distance and minimizing disturbance.
  • These day also deepens the cultural exchange with the local communities. This will involve visiting a local village, learning about traditional practices, or simply sharing stories with the homestay family while our trackers will be out in the filed tracking down the pandas. These interactions highlight the symbiotic relationship between the local people and the forest, reinforcing the ethical tourism message and showcasing the direct positive impact on local lives. By weaving cultural elements into the daily itinerary, from staying in homestays and enjoying local meals to engaging with guides who share folklore and understanding community involvement, the tour will transcends a purely wildlife focus. The last evening offers a final chance to enjoy the tranquility of the Himalayas, perhaps under a blanket of stars, reflecting on the unique experiences and the profound connection forged with nature and culture. Day 7

  • Farewell to the Forest, Cherished Memories – A Last Glimpse
  • After a hearty breakfast, farewells are exchanged with the homestay hosts and the majestic Singalila National Park. Undertake scenic drive back to Siliguri marks the conclusion of the journey.

Tour Ends but Memory Remains
  • Please note that the day-wise itinerary may change depending upon the season/weather conditions/activities of birds in and around the surrounding areas, the decision of the local guide will be final in such cases.
  • Please note departure to be advised as per your international flights and accommodation will be organised for your departure.
  • Any other expenses apart from the above will have to be borne by the participants
  • As all the Safaris in the Indian National Park are booked 120 Days in advance before your departure,
    kindly pay in advance to secure your safari.
  • If a solo guest wishes to share a room, we will do our best to match them with another guest of the same gender. If we cannot match a solo guest with another guest of the same gender, then the single supplement will be charged.
  • Please Note : Non Veg will be served only in Dinner.

Terms and Cancellation Policy:
  • 25% of the Package Cost is required to be paid at the time of Booking (non-refundable).
  • 75% of the total package cost will be refunded on cancellation before 90 days prior to Safari Date.
  • 50% of the total package cost will be refunded on cancellation before 60 days prior to Safari Date.
  • 25% of the total package cost will be refunded on cancellation before 45 days prior to Safari Date.
  • No Refund on cancellation within 45 days prior to Safari Date.
Payment Terms:
  • Full amount to be paid 120 days prior to the workshop/safari starting date.

  • Please note: The date of written (email) communication of intent to cancel is the date considered for calculation of the cancellation fees.
